Result of selection of concept notes for developing full proposals to RDViet 2009

After calling for concept notes for RDViet funding 2009, it attracted the interests from many researchers within RDViet network and MSc graduates. By 1st April, 2009, the project received nearly 40 concept notes which mainly focused on three major research themes on (1) adaptation to changing conditions, (2) RD policy and practice and (3) options for livelihoods and reasons for poverty.

As a result of reviewing, 14 concept notes are qualified enough and are accepted by the Scientific Committee to develop further full proposals as listed:
1. Adaptation and changes in the livelihood strategies of on-boat people of the sedentarization program (Hoang Thi Hong Que - HUAF)

2. Changing local people’s livelihoods as an adaptation to the climate change (Nguyen Hong Mai - HUAF)

3. Conflict between policies and custom regulations in lagoon resource management, Thua Thien Hue province (Nguyen Viet Tuan - HUAF)

4. Contribution of community based tourism to poverty alleviation (Pham Xuan Phu - AGU)
5. Impacts of oil spills on mariculture: Case study of livelihoods of coastal oyster farming people in a coastal commune in the South of Viet Nam (Nguyen Bach Dang - NLU)

6. Impacts of salinity intrusion on livelihoods of different household groups in the coastal Soc Trang province (Duong Ngoc Thanh - CTU)
7. Informal financial systems in rural areas of An Giang provice (Tran Thanh Binh - AGU)

8. Land alienation statiation and its impacts on social-economic aspects of people in Huong Tra district, Thua Thien Hue provice (Nguyen Thien Tam - HUAF)

9. Local adaptive capacity towards climate change for sustainable rural livelihoods: Who are vulnerable. (Huynh Thi Anh Phuong - HUAF)

10. Loss of jobs and the return to rural areas of migrant workers. Case study of Doan Xa commune, Kien Thuy district, Hai Phong, Viet Nam (Nguyen Thu Phuong - HAU)

11. Spontaneous migration as a livelihood strategy of the poor in rural areas (Nguyen My Van - HU)

12. The policy of subsidy and fare subsidy: from theory to practice. A case study in Thuong Quang and Thuong Nhat communes, Nam Dong mountainous district, Thua Thien Hue province (Ngo Phuong Anh - HUAF)

13. The social- economic transformation of a wild-captured fishing community (Nguyen Minh Duc - HAU)

14. Valuing groundwater used in agriculture: A key solution for sustainable natural resource management in the coastal region of the Mekong Delta (Le Canh Dung - CTU)


The deadline for submission of full proposals is 17h 5th May, 2009. Any late submission will be not accepted.
