Announcement to Dialogue between Policy makers and Development and Research workers on Agriculture, Farmers and Rural Development (13-14 December, 2008)
17.04.2009 17:02
The project on Research Cooperation for Sustainable Rural Development in Vietnam (RDViet) in cooperation with the Centre for Rural Development in Central, Vietnam (CRD) organize a workshop on “Dialogue between policy makers and research & development workers on Agriculture, Farmers and Rural Development”
Policy
carries its important role for and impact on production and livings of the
rural population. For this reason, the government of Vietnam has introduced a
number of policies and strategies with main aim at reducing poverty and
promoting the rural development. In the course of this progress, much
achievement has been gained. Particularly, Vietnam has been one of the most
successful in poverty reduction - reduced from 58 percent in 1993 to 18 percent
in 2007, and increased per capita income at 2,7 times in the year of 2007 as
compared to the 2000 as confirmed by prime minister Nguyen Sinh Hung.
Despite
that, Vietnam is still poor country with high poverty rate and poor livings
standards, especially rural population in remote and mountainous areas. The
efficiency of policy intervention, less or more, has not yet met the stated
expectations as well as the rural population’s needs, resulting in negative
influence on the socio-econimic aspects of the rural sector and rural
population.
Emerged
from this practice, The Centre for Rural Development in Central, Vietnam (CRD)
and The project on Research Cooperation for Sustainable Rural Development in
Vietnam (RDViet) - Hue University of Agriculture and Forestry (HUAF) decided to
join our efforts in organizing in Hue city, Vietnam a workshop on “Dialogue
